High-level Talent Recruitment Announcement of the Second Hospital of Shandong University

The High-level Talent Introduction Program of the Second Hospital of Shandong University is a high-level talent program that our hospital establishes on the basis of the existing national-level, ministerial and provincial-level talent programs and scientific research award programs. It is a high-level talent program that connects the talent program of our hospital with external talent programs, as well as the Outstanding Talent System of Shandong University.

I. Levels and Categories of High-level Talents

1. Top Talents. Nobel Prize winners, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering or talents having the ability to be selected as academicians of these two academies, and foreign academicians of well-known overseas academic institutions or talents having the ability to be selected as academicians of them. Nobel Prize winners and academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering can be directly recommended and recognized as Chair Professors of Shandong University.

2. Leading Talents. Distinguished Professors of Changjiang Scholars Program, winners of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, National Distinguished Experts of the Thousand Talents Program, the second-level winners of the Ten Thousand Talents Program, winners of the Taishan Scholars Climbing Program; heads of national platforms such as National Key Disciplines, National Key Laboratories, and National Clinical Medicine Centers, etc., as well as National Key Research and Development Projects and other important national-level scientific research projects sponsored by the government (the single project has been sponsored with RMB 10 million Yuan and above by the government); the top two prizewinners of national achievement awards (National Natural Science Award, National Technical Invention Award, National Science and Technology Progress Award); professors working in the Top 100 overseas universities and research institutes listed in the latest Global Natural Index or the TOP 100 universities in the latest world rankings (QS, ARWU, THE, USNews) and serving as academic leaders, or experts and scholars with equivalent positions; talents serving as directors of the professional branches of the Chinese Medical Association or directors of associations at the same level and having corresponding strength. Distinguished Professors of Changjiang Scholars Program, winners of The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, top prizewinners of national-level scientific research awards or second prizewinners of two national-level scientific research awards (Highest Science and Technology Awards, National Natural Science Award, National Technical Invention Award, First Prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award and above) can be directly recommended and recognized as Distinguished Professors of Shandong University.

3. Outstanding Talents. Talents selected into National Thousand Young Talents Program, Young Top Talents, Young Changjiang Scholars, Excellent Young Scientists Fund, Distinguished Experts of Taishan Scholars; National Key Research and Development Projects and other important national-level scientific research projects sponsored by the government (the single project has been sponsored with RMB 5 million Yuan and above by the government), or top prizewinners of national-level scientific research awards or third prizewinners of two national-level scientific research awards, or top prizewinners of first prizes of provincial and ministerial-level awards and above; talents who have published academic papers as the first author or corresponding author in internationally recognized top academic journals (including “SCIENCE”, “NATURE”, “CELL” and other regular journals) in the field of his/her discipline, Elsevier highly cited scholars, candidates who have entered the final examination session of four major national youth talents programs, or winners of provincial and ministerial-level outstanding achievement awards, etc.; professors, associate professors working in the Top 100 overseas universities and research institutes listed in the latest Global Natural Index or the TOP 100 universities in the latest world rankings (QS, ARWU, THE, USNews), or experts and scholars with equivalent positions; finalists of the selection of the Distinguished Professors of Changjiang Scholars Program and The National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.

4. Excellent Talents. Assistant professors working in the Top 100 overseas universities and research institutes listed in the latest Global Natural Index or the TOP 100 universities in the latest world rankings (QS, ARWU, THE, USNews), or experts and scholars with equivalent positions; clinical experts must have a senior professional title and a doctorate degree, serving as the deputy director of the clinical department or above in the provincial and ministerial comprehensive “Tertiary A-level”, or as a member of the standing committee of the professional branches of the Chinese Medical Association or above or other associations at the same level with the corresponding strength.

The age of full-time scientific research talents should generally not exceed 40 years old, and the age of clinical talents should not exceed 50 years old in discipline.

5. Reserve Talents. Doctors and postdoctors of the world’s TOP 200 universities, or Top 100 universities and research institutes listed in the Global Natural Index  with the age no more than 35 years old in principle, and have achieved landmark research results; or members of innovative team led by academicians, top talents introduced through “One Case, One Discussion”, and Taishan Scholars, etc. 

6. Team Introduction. Team members can enjoy the corresponding level of treatment if they meet the above-mentioned standards for introducing high-level talents for applicants for team introduction. The scientific research start-up funds of the team can be negotiated and determined according to the actual situation, and other conditions should be implemented in accordance with the relevant national, provincial and municipal regulations.

II. Treatment and Support

1. We adopt the method of “One Case, One Discussion” to negotiate the treatment of introduced experts or teams, and implement the agreed salary system, project salary system or annual salary system (excluding post allowance from the national or provincial government);

2. The talents will be recommended to be selected as the Distinguished Professor of Shandong University, the Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Scholar of Shandong University, and the Young Qilu Scholar of Shandong University according to different levels, or be identified with the senior professional title and as the doctoral supervisor;

3. We will provide corresponding discipline construction funds, laboratory rooms and offices according to different levels, give priority to the allocation of postdoctoral and doctoral (master) enrollment quotas, and supplement and strengthen the research team;

4. We will provide a lump-sum settling-in allowance or an expert apartment according to different levels;

5. The primary and secondary schools affiliated to Shandong University have high-quality educational resources, which will provide convenient conditions for children of our staffs to study in these schools.
