On September 29, the comprehensive performance evaluation meeting of “Key Technologies and Secondary Development of Accurate Research and Evaluation on Classical Prescriptions of Chinese Thorowax Root”, a Shandong Provincial Key R&D Program (Major Key Technology Project) led by Professor Sun Rong and her team from the Second Hospital of Shandong University, was held in Jinan. The acceptance meeting was chaired by Yin Xiaodong, the Director of the Department of Science & Technology for Social Development, the Department of Science & Technology of Shandong Province. Zhao Xiaogang, the Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Dean of the Second Hospital of Shandong University, attended the meeting.
The acceptance expert group consisted of Wang Ting, the Dean of Beijing Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Yin Changjian, the Director of the Hepatopathy Department, the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Zhang Lanying, the Honorary Dean of Shandong Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cao Zhiqun, the Director of the Gastroenterology Department, the Affiliated Hospital of Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xu Fengguo, a Professor of the School of Pharmacy, China Pharmaceutical University, Li Hui, the Senior Accountant of the Party School of the CPC Jinan Municipal Committee, and Liu Xinhui, the Senior Accountant of Jinan Preschool Education College, and other experts.
Yin Xiaodong introduced the relevant requirements for the comprehensive performance evaluation of major scientific and technological innovation projects in Shandong province, and expressed his hope that the project team members could listen carefully to the valuable suggestions of the experts, and use the comprehensive performance evaluation of the project as an opportunity to continuously improve the level of project research, so as to make greater contributions to promoting the high-quality development of traditional Chinese medicine cause and industry in Shandong province. Zhang Yusheng, the Director of the Project Organization Office, Department of Science and Technology Management, Shandong University, presented the basic information of the university, project implementation and the preliminary preparations for the comprehensive performance evaluation to the expert group.
At the acceptance meeting, Sun Rong, the Project Leader, made a report on the project’s research content, key technologies, innovation points, project effects and funding usage. After carefully listening to the work report of the project team, referring to the project materials, performing on-site inspections, carrying out expert inquiries, making questions reply by the project team, and marking scores on the completion of the project by the experts of the acceptance expert group, the experts discussed and formed performance evaluation opinions and acceptance conclusions, and signed them. The acceptance expert group unanimously agreed that this project successfully passed the comprehensive performance evaluation, with the comprehensive performance evaluation opinion being “excellent”, and recommended to further carry out clinical transformation and new medicine creation research on the research results obtained by this project.
The project of “Key Technologies and Secondary Development of Accurate Research and Evaluation on Classical Prescriptions of Chinese Thorowax Root”, taking classical prescriptions of Chinese thorowax root as the research object, applies network pharmacology-based methods to predict the effect mechanism of classical prescriptions of Chinese thorowax root, performs verification through chemical components analysis and pharmacological research, constructs an accurate discovery technology based on the effective-toxic substance of the hepatic microsomal enzyme system, and reveals the substantial basis of effects of and effect mechanism of the classic prescriptions, which lays the foundation for follow-up accurate research and development, and is of great significance in promoting the discovery of innovative drugs in Shandong province. During this process, total 26 articles (including 6 SCI articles) have been published, and 3 invention patents have been authorized. Its application for the first prize of 2020 Science and Technology Award of Shandong Province has finished the publicity period. Total 2 Chinese books and 1 English book have been published, with total RMB 6,750,000 horizontal technical service fee earned by applying its key technologies, as well as 1 full-time expert from Taishan Scholars Program for Young Expert of Shandong Province introduced and 2 postdoctoral fellows, 4 doctors, and 12 masters cultivated.
