Clinical Medicine

The Department is at domestic leading level in the field of colon-rectum -anus surgery, and is equipped with the most advanced equipment for colon-rectum-anus in the world. It follows the internationally state-of-art technical standards and processes for diagnosis and treatment to guarantee the solution of many stubborn diseases of colon-rectum-anus.

The Department has comprehensively diagnosed and treated colorectal diseases such as benign and malignant colorectal tumor and inflammatory bowel disease, haemorrhoids, fistula, anal fissure, perianalabscess, rectal mucosal prolapsed, constipation and other anorectal diseases.

In a minimally invasive manner, the Department has performed laparoscopic colorectal tumor resection and laparoscopic and endoscopic resection of colorectal lesions, which are characterized by a small wound, rapid recovery and good effects. Meanwhile, the Department also pays attention to traditional open colorectal tumor resection and has performed many low and ultralow sphincter-preserving surgeries for rectal cancer to effect a radical cure of tumor and preserve the sphincter, and won good comments from patients and their family. All patients with colorectal cancer are subject to standardized, individualized and comprehensive treatment and lifelong follow-up. The Department also performed the TEM earlier in China.

In terms of perianal diseases, the Department, upholding the concept of “minimally invasive cosmetology”, has performed surgeries such as haemorrhoids PPH, RPH and TST, and established a set of domestically leading diagnosis and treatment methods against common anal diseases like haemorrhoids, anal fistula and perianal abscess, which have advantages of minimal invasion, no pain, short treatment course, satisfactory effects and uneasy to recur. Its therapies for incarcerated hemorrhoid and complicated stubborn diseases of anal fistula are unique and the Department enjoys a domestic leading position in 3D intrarectal ultrasound targeting puncture and drainage of perianal abscess, fistulectomy and other techniques. The introduction of Germany STORZ VAAFT system lays a foundation for the performance of minimally invasive annualfistula surgery by significantly reducing the postoperative pains, maximally preserving the anal functions and shortening the length of stay in hospital.

In diagnosis and treatment of pelvic floor diseases and constipation, the Department has applied advanced technologies such as magnetic resonance (MR) defecography earlier in China, and established a standardized diagnosis and treatment process for constipation. The Department is capable of total colectomy of slow transit constipation (STC), dual anastomats with PPH for rectal intramucosal prolapse, STARR for anterior rectal protrusion, transvaginal rectocele repair, and laparoscopic pelvic floor suspension to effectively relieve the pain of patients, and achieve good results.

The department has first-class diagnosis and treatment equipment, including the first 3Dtransrectal ultrasound instrument in China, which is currently internationally recognized as the "golden standard" for the diagnosis of anorectal diseases. Compared with the fuzzy diagnoses in the past, the 3Dtransrectal ultrasound instrument can greatly improve the diagnosis rate and provide guarantee for guiding the surgical target treatment through 3D ultrasound examination. The colonic hydrotherapy system can thoroughly clean the intestinal tract to eliminate toxins. It has a significant effect on intractable constipation, and has functions such as cosmetology and weight loss. The electronic proctosigmoidoscope and electronic colonoscopy make a comprehensive, intuitive examination of colorectal diseases possible and is characterized by safety, painlessness, low cost and zero missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis. The EMG-biofeedback assisted pelvic floor assessment system can objectively evaluate the patient's functions of pelvic floor muscles, develop personalized therapeutic regimen specifically, and effectively solve functional constipation
