The Drug Supply Department attaches great importance to teaching and scientific research. Since the establishment of the Department, it has undertaken 1 general project under the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 1 key research and development project of Shandong Province, 1 general project under the Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province, and 1 project under the doctoral fund of the Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province, with a total scientific research fund of more than RMB 1 million yuan. The Department won the second prize of Science and Technology Award of Shandong Pharmaceutical Association, and published 8 papers in SCI, with IF>5 for each. At present, the Department is undertaking the internship and teaching program of pharmacy-related courses for 4 colleges and universities, and has received staff from 4 other hospitals for further study.
The Drug Supply Department of the Second Hospital of Shandong University, established in 2018, consists of two subdivisions-the Drug Storehouse and the Pharmacy Intravenous Admixture Services (PIVAS), and is responsible for drug procurement and supply, as well as centralized dispensing of pharmacy intravenous admixture across the hospital.
There are now 42 staff members in the Pharmaceutical Supply Department, including 1 chief pharmacist, 2 associate chief pharmacists, 6 pharmacists-in-charge, 3 with a doctoral degree and 12 with a master’s degree, 1 master student supervisor of Shandong University, and 1 with the title of Outstanding Young Talent of the Second Hospital of Shandong University.
PIVAS of the Drug Supply Department has been adopting the working mode that features a structure consisting of only pharmaceutical professionals. With the implementation of whole-process management, it has been working to strengthen the quality control of key links to prevent errors and accidents. The current working area is about 1,100 square meters, which is divided into three functional areas: the clean area, the non-clean control area and the auxiliary working area. There is the prescription review room, the drug discharging area[A1] , the labeling area, the clean dispensing operation room, the finished product inspection and packaging room, cool storage, normal temperature storage and other main functional areas, as well as general cleaning room, the medical consumables room, the work shift room and other auxiliary working areas. PIVAS is equipped with devices for temperature, humidity and air pressure monitoringļ¼11 sets of BSC-1600-II-A2 biosafety cabinets for the dispensing of antibiotics and cytotoxic drugs, and 20 SA-1800-1 horizontal laminar flow purification workstations for the dispensing of general drugs and parenteral nutrition drugs.
