Recently, the Second Hospital of Shandong University hosted the 2023 National Continuing Education Workshop on Endovascular Intervention for Cerebrovascular Diseases. The event saw participation from over 100 physicians from both within and outside the province, including experts such as Li Xingang, Deputy Director of the Neurosurgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Zhang Junting, Zhang Jianguo, and Meng Fangang from Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Wu Bin, Deputy President of Beijing Sanbo Brain Hospital, Yang Gonghuan from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, Li Gang and Wang Donghai from Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, and Wang Guodong from Shandong Provincial Hospital. The conference was chaired by Wang Chengwei, Director of the Neurosurgery Department at the Second Hospital of Shandong University.
Experts engaged in extensive communication through lectures and case discussions covering various aspects of cerebrovascular disease diagnosis, endovascular intervention, brain tumor surgical treatment, neuro-intensive care, and robot-assisted stereotactic surgery.
Li Xingang delivered an academic presentation titled "Experience with Surgical Treatment of Anterior Circulation Aneurysms via Supraorbital Keyhole Approach", providing in-depth insights into the surgical technique points and perioperative considerations for clipping anterior circulation aneurysms via the supraorbital keyhole approach. This deepened the attendees' understanding of this approach and anterior circulation aneurysms.
Wang Donghai gave a lecture on "Complex Surgical Treatment of Cerebrovascular Diseases", providing detailed explanations on the equipment setup, personnel technical requirements, case selection, operational procedures, and technical points for complex cerebrovascular surgery. He also shared typical cases, promoting the standardized implementation of complex cerebrovascular surgery in the province.
Zhang Junting presented an academic lecture on "Treatment Strategies for Petroclival Meningiomas", providing detailed insights into the treatment plan selection and surgical key points for this challenging skull base meningioma surgery. This allowed everyone to appreciate the exceptional technical prowess of the internationally leading team and propelled the advancement of skull base surgery in Shandong province.
Yang Gonghuan delivered an academic report titled "From Healing Scars to Patient-Centered Integrated Health Services", explaining the transformation of health services and humanistic considerations. This allowed participants to experience the continuous exploration of top-level design in the medical industry by scholars in the field.
The hospital has consistently organized national-level continuing education workshops on endovascular intervention for cerebrovascular diseases, establishing a certain regional influence. This has strengthened communication and exchange with top-tier domestic medical teams, and to some extent, facilitated the downflow of "national team" medical resources, enhancing the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of physicians in neurosurgery, radiology, and interventional departments in dealing with aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and other cranial diseases. This has played a significant role in standardizing and elevating the level of interventional treatment for cerebrovascular diseases in Shandong province.
