Recently, the Southern Campus of the Second Hospital of Shandong University/Jinan Shande Nursing Home successfully passed the joint assessment conducted by the Provincial Health Commission and the Provincial Civil Affairs Department and was approved as the "First Batch of Shandong Province Traditional Chinese Medicine and Medical Care Integration Demonstration Bases". Among the approved institutions, only four are medical institutions of Level Two or above.

Since the establishment of the demonstration base, the Southern Campus/Jinan Shande Nursing Home has attached great importance to the development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) integrated with medical care, rehabilitation, and the combination of traditional Chinese and Western medicine services. Significant achievements have been made. The Southern Campus/Jinan Shande Nursing Home established a work management team led by Vice President Zhou Qingbo of the Southern Campus (Jinan Shande Nursing Home), overseeing teams such as Geriatrics, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Rehabilitation. They formulated work plans and organized their implementation. They established a management system and working mechanism that complements TCM integrated with medical care services, continuously improved work systems, procedures, and emergency plans, and enhanced team building. They provided training on TCM-related theories and techniques for staff, gradually improving the level of TCM syndrome differentiation and rehabilitation nursing skills among medical and nursing personnel. Building upon comprehensive Western medical treatments, the team conducted TCM constitution identification and utilized TCM theories and techniques for diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and nursing services. They conducted comprehensive differentiated treatment assessments, implemented precise treatments tailored to the characteristics of elderly individuals, and employed Chinese herbal medicine or patent medicine, supplemented by acupuncture, rehabilitation, and other techniques. They combined daily care to provide individualized, dynamic, and holistic TCM integrated with medical care services, playing an active role in the precise management of critically ill elderly individuals and the fine management of chronic diseases. They also carried out TCM specialty techniques such as acupuncture, cupping, and acupoint application, continuously strengthening the promotion and application of suitable TCM techniques, gradually forming an integrated TCM diagnosis and treatment model that combines "acupuncture-Chinese medicine-rehabilitation". They actively fostered a rich TCM culture, continuously improved service quality, and enhanced the satisfaction of elderly residents and staff. 

The Second Hospital of Shandong University and Jinan Shande Nursing Home will capitalize on this opportunity. We will continue to draw on the strengths of traditional Chinese medicine, preserving its heritage while embracing innovation. We will actively cultivate specialized TCM techniques, aiming to pioneer a new era in the integration of TCM with medical care. By assuming a leading role as a demonstration, we aspire to make substantial contributions towards a healthier Shandong.
